Physiotherapy plays an important role in rehabilitating a patient to his or her pre-disease status. It is said that a physician adds years to life while a physiotherapist adds life to years. The Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Physiotherapy is the first private college to offer professional education in the field of physical therapy in Navi Mumbai. The Institute was incorporated under the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University in the year 2004. The Institute was incorporated under the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University in the year 2004. During the course of 4 years, the programme provides an educational experience of the essentials required for healthcare in the country.

The educational process involves problem-based learning, which enables the students to identify, discuss, and analyze various dysfunctions incorporating institutional management as well as community-based rehabilitation.

The Department offers the graduate course in Physiotherapy. The degree conferred upon is B.P.T. (Bachelor of Physiotherapy). It is a four & half years course including 6 months mandatory, rotatory internship. During the course the program provides an educational experience of the essentials required for health care in the country.

During internship, the emphasis is laid on field practice areas, projects, independent handling of patients and community based rehabilitation. On successful completion of internship, the student is awarded the Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy.
