Biotechnology is an amalgam of Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, Bioprocess Engineering, Tissue Culture Technology, Molecular Biology and Recombination DNA Technology and Economics. This field of knowledge aims at transforming biological inputs into commercial outputs and new products as well. Bioinformatics has a key role to play in the cutting edge Research and Development areas such as functional genomics, proteomics, protein engineering, metabolic pathway engineering, pharmacogenomics, discoveries of new drugs and vaccines, molecular diagnostic kits, agro-biotechnology etc.

Experienced teachers and visiting faculties from BARC, CRI, TIFR, IIT, and other colleges teach the students and are involved in research as well. Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics is full of vitality and vigor and is equipped with modern sophisticated state of the art facilities in all laboratories.

• B.Tech Bioinformatics
  Intake: 60
  Duration: 4 Years
  Eligibility: The Candidate must be either 17 years of age or attain the age at the time of admission. Candidate must have passed HSC (10 2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board, securing minimum 50% marks in the aggregate of the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology and pass in English. Candidates with Mathematics will be considered eligible for B. Tech (Bioinformatics)/B. Tech (Biomedical Engineering) courses. With AIET B. Tech.
  
  
• M.Tech (Integrated)
  Intake: 60
  Duration: 5 ? Years
  Eligibility: The Candidate must be either 17 years of age or attain the age at the time of admission. Candidate must have passed HSC (10 2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board, securing minimum 50% marks in the aggregate of the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology and pass in English.
