Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University

The D R Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University is founded in the year 1989 by the Government of Maharashtra. It is situated at Lonere, in the mountain ranges of Western Ghat, at the mountain step of Raigad fort. This place is famous for Chhatrapati Shivaji’s activities. D R Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University is an autonomous institute of the government.

The University has registered institute of its own, "Institute of Petrochemical Engineering", running Diploma Courses in eight streams of engineering and technology. The University extends its services to the society through a governmental scheme of "Community Polytechnic" by educating the school dropouts and empowering them with technical skills. The University offers education especially to rural women through a certificate course in nursing technology.

Since its inception, the objective of the University has been to offer high quality technical education, research and development services to meet the needs of industry, the service sector, business, and the community at large scale. The University goals at helping all round development of students and boost their capabilities for service sector, entrepreneurship, and research. It wants to establish centre of excellence in areas or engineering such as CAD or CAM, biomedical electronics, non-conservative energy sources and nanotechnology etc
