Schools in Maharashtra

The state of Maharashtra is one of the most progressive, technologically advanced and rich states of India. Maharashtra is also known for its intriguing cultures, academic history and numerous skills and abilities in different fields. A prominent section of the state also displays entrepreneurial skills and talents due to which Maharashtra is also the most industrially and commercially advanced state in the country.

Maharashtra and its people undoubtedly owe their tremendous progress in the avenues of scientific technology, industrialization, commercialization, performing arts and many others to their strong and impressive preparatory educational backgrounds. The foundation of Maharashtra’s rich, notable and internationally acclaimed educational services is the schooling process in the state. Maharashtra is not less recognized for its excellent educational facilities at the pre-primary, middle school and secondary school levels.

Maharashtra boasts of an incalculable amount of Public schools, Private schools, Convent Schools, Montessori Schools and Government Schools and Municipal schools. Schooling at Maharashtra like that of other Indian states consists of fifteen grades. A child is made to attend a pre-preparatory school before he/she joins the first grade. This pre-preparatory level is called pre-primary or Montessori school which continues for a period of three years. These pre-schools focus on the basic mental and physical development of a child, his/her speech, ability to recognize and differentiate colours, animals, shapes etc.

After this elementary stage, a child is ready to start attending school at the age of five in Maharashtra. All schools in the state are managed either by Municipal Corporation or privately by trusts and individuals.
